Pamela Rabe

Pamela Rabe, originally named Pamela June Koropatnick, is a highly respected Canadian-Australian actress and theatre director, known for her versatile performances in film, television and theatre.

She is best known for her roles in Australian films such as Sirens (1994), Cosi (1996) and Paradise Road (1997). However, she gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of Joan "The Freak" Ferguson in the television drama series Wentworth (2014-2021), a role that earned her a Logie Award in 2018.

Here are some photos showing different facets of her Joan. It seems like these are completely different characters... In fact, they are not. It’s just one outstanding actress who makes them so real! Brilliantly!

Besides, I am still amazed at how much Joan looks like a Russian woman, in particular, she reminds me the Soviet actress Lyubov Sokolova.
Being a significant figure in Australian theatre, Rabe having worked extensively with the Sydney Theatre Company and the Melbourne Theatre Company. Some of her notable stage roles include Amanda Wingfield in The Glass Menagerie, for which she won a Helpmann Award, and Richard III in The War of the Roses alongside Cate Blanchett. She has also directed several high-profile plays, including the Australian premiere of In the Next Room.

And here are a few more, illustrating the many different roles played by one wonderful actress...
